I am thrilled to be a part of the district and community of Spurger. Since joining the district in November of 2015, I have been welcome by all. I goals is to continue the growth of the district and help the community whenever possible.

I was the middle child of 5 and we were all raised in a small community in Fannin County called Gober, where my Dad and two brothers still live. I went to school in Bonham ISD and graduated from Bonham High School in 1985. After graduation I started the following September at East Texas State University in Commerce and graduated with by Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Education in August of 1988. I started working on my science certification right after I graduated and continued off and on for several years. I later changed fields and graduated in May of 2001 from East Texas with a Masters of Science Degree in Chemistry. In August of 2005 I went back to East Texas State University to obtain my principal certification which I completed it in December of 2006. In August of 2009, I started at UT @ Permian Basin for my superintendent certification and completed that coursework in May of 2010. To go along with my two degrees, I have obtained several teaching certifications: superintendent, principal, composite science, physical education, and four vocational agriculture certifications.

I started teaching science and coaching in 1989 and I am currently in my 27th year in education. I have taught chemistry, physics, biology, IPC, Earth science, life science, and world geography during the 19 years in the classroom. I became a head girls basketball and track coach in my second year. I coach for 16 years and was a head coach for at least one sport for 13 of those years. I coached both 6-Man and 11-Man football, basketball, track, cross-country, golf, softball, and volleyball. In 2008 I left the classroom to become a PK-12 principal and athletic director. After five years of that I moved to a larger district and became their high school principal. After two and a half years there, I got the call to become the superintendent at Spurger ISD.
