Tyler county School Closures revised

Date: March 20, 2020

Re: Tyler County School Closures, revised

From: Superintendents of All Tyler County Schools

Dear Pirate families:

In order to comply with the judicial decree, put into effect for Tyler County on March 16, 2020, and the amended decree put into effect today; all Tyler County schools will extend the suspension of classes and continue remote, home-based learning through Friday, April 10, 2020.  The week of April 13th – April 17th will remain our scheduled spring break.  Monday, April 20th will be a staff work day (no students) in order to give teachers the opportunity to prepare for the return of students to the classroom.  As of today, we are planning that students will return to school on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. We also acknowledge that this anticipated return date could change should the COVID-19 crisis continue.

Please be sure to read the judge’s decree found here.  Violations of these orders comes with a $500 fine! We need to ensure that, as a community, we heed these orders so that we can return to normalcy as soon as possible!  One major restriction from the judge, regarding students is the 24-hour curfew:

While we understand that the coming weeks will prove challenging in many ways, our districts are committed to using our flexible education plans to preserve a continuity of educational services for the students of Tyler County. Further, our districts pledge to continue to send out information regularly in order to keep staff, students and the community informed.  Please understand that this is a rapidly evolving set of circumstances and we will communicate any changes to this plan as soon as possible. Lastly, we are grateful for your continued support as we navigate this unprecedented nationwide crisis.

Pirate On,

Morgan
