Spurger High School Celebrates Homecoming Coronation and Senior Bonfire Tradition

Yesterday evening, the Spurger community came together to celebrate one of our favorite Pirate traditions — Homecoming Coronation followed by the annual Senior Bonfire.

This year, we proudly crowned our 2025 Homecoming Queen, Citori Stakes. Joining her on stage was First Runner-Up, Emily Fea, whose grace and school spirit shone throughout the evening. The court of duchesses gathered alongside them, adding to the ceremony’s sense of pride, beauty, and tradition.

Following the coronation, seniors and their families made their way to the field for a moment that has become a cherished rite of passage at Spurger High School. Each senior lit a candle, then joined together in lighting the Senior Bonfire — a symbolic passing of light, unity, and the bright future ahead of the Class of 2026.

Surrounded by friends, families, alumni, and the glow of the flames, our students celebrated not just a tradition, but the shared spirit that makes Spurger ISD feel like home.

Congratulations again to our Queen, Citori Stakes, First Runner-Up Emily Fea, and all the members of the Homecoming Court. And to our seniors — thank you for keeping our long-standing traditions alive with heart and pride.
