Behind every successful school day at Spurger ISD is a dedicated team working tirelessly to ensure that campuses are safe, clean, and ready for learning. The district proudly recognizes its maintenance and custodial staff, whose commitment and professionalism play a vital role in supporting students, staff, and daily instruction.
Led by Eddie Huddleston, Transportation and Maintenance Director, and Jason Griffith, Maintenance Supervisor, the maintenance team works year-round to keep district facilities operating smoothly. From addressing water leaks and aging infrastructure to maintaining lighting, equipment installation, and campus grounds, their work often happens behind the scenes — but its impact is felt every day. Spurger ISD’s custodial staff also plays a critical role in the educational process. Katie Crenshaw and Brittany Crenshaw, elementary custodians; Summer Vaughan, campus custodian; Crystal Powell, high school custodian; and Ms. Sue Perkins, high school and junior high custodian, work diligently to ensure classrooms and common areas are consistently clean and sanitized. Whether vacuuming, mopping, or disinfecting surfaces after students leave for the day, their attention to detail helps maintain healthy learning spaces across the district.
A parent recently shared appreciation for the team’s work, saying, “Every time I visit the school, it’s obvious how much care goes into maintaining the buildings. The classrooms are always clean, the grounds look great, and issues seem to be handled quickly. It gives me confidence knowing my child is learning in such a well-cared-for environment.”
