We have received noticed from the National Weather Service - Lake Charles that we are at an enhanced risk of severe weather including possible high winds, hail, and tornadoes. Out of an abundance of caution, we will release early today at 2:15 PM.
This should allow our buses to complete their routes before the worst of the weather approaches. Please be careful as you travel home.
The inclement weather should pass us by tonight. We anticipate having a regular schedule tomorrow.

Spurger played in the District Tennis Tournament on April 23rd in Woodville. Summer Merritt placed 2nd in Girls Singles (advancing to Regionals) and Savannah Brooker placed 3rd. Kade Simpson placed 2nd in Boys Singles (advancing to Regionals) and Joshua Grissom placed 3rd. In Mixed Doubles, Kiley Crain/Joseph Fielder placed 1st and Citori Stakes/Landen Hooks placed 2nd (both teams advancing to Regionals). We would like to wish them the best of luck on May 7-8 at Regionals held at Rudder High School in Bryan, Texas.

The Spurger Lady Pirates Softball Team hit the road to Shiner, TX, to face off against the Medina Bobcats in an intense Area Round showdown. In a thrilling best-of-three series, the Lady Pirates emerged victorious!

Game 2: Medina lost out 6-5
Game 3: Spurger seals the deal 5-4
With this hard-fought series win, the Lady Pirates now advance to the Regional Semi-Final against Hull-Daisetta!

Our sophomores went to tour the Ocean Star Museum in Galveston and got to experience working on an offshore drilling rig. They also got to get some sweet streets at La Kings and play a little on the beach before heading home!

The Spurger Baseball Game for today has been rescheduled to tomorrow 5/2/25. Same place and time as before.
Our Junior Class had the opportunity to visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science this week! The students got to learn about Ancient Egypt and the indigenous peoples of America, walk among the dinosaur fossils, and see chemistry and physics concepts brought to life!
Congratulations to our Regional Qualifiers in Academic UIL. This year, Spurger High School had three teams advance: Social Studies, Persuasive Speaking, and Literary Criticism.
Our Senior class took a trip to visit Space Center Houston last week. They got to learn about the history of space travel and toured the entire campus getting to see the rockets up close. It was an out of this world experience!
