Our English I students have outdone themselves with their Odyssey Movie Posters! Students were asked to analyze their favorite portion of the epic and reimagine the story to design a movie poster using textual evidence and their creativity! These students have their talents on display with these unique and intricate retellings of The Odyssey!

Coming off a dominant 92–35 win against Goodrich last Friday, the Spurger Varsity Boys continued their hot streak with an impressive 114–43 victory over the Leggett Pirates. They went coast to coast on their home court, controlling the game from start to finish and securing the win to improve to a perfect 4–0 district record. Leading the scoring effort were Alex Haynes and Kade Simpson with 18 points each, followed by Dawson Heim and Joe Fielder with 13 each, Zech Grissom with 12, and Eli Haynes and Cauy Crain each adding 10. With momentum on their side, these Pirates are ready to face the Brookeland Wildcats (4-0) on Friday to break their tied district record and take the lead. The Pirates need your help! Come pack the stands to support our boys as they show the Wildcats what these Pirates are made of!

The Varsity Boys Basketball team improved to 2–0 in district play with a decisive 92–37 win over Burkeville. Varsity scoring leaders were led by Alex Haynes with 24 points, followed by Canyon Baker and Dawson Heim with 15 each. Joe Fielder and Eli Haynes added 10 points apiece.

The Junior Varsity team also earned a strong 75–20 victory, marking their first win of the season. JV scoring leaders included Caleb Grissom with 23 points, Kyle Abdul with 15, Will McGallion with 14, and Kade Simpson with 12.

Both teams played with outstanding effort and intensity, securing two impressive home wins.

School resumes January 6th, 2026
Spurger ISD invites our community to join us for the New CTE Building Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, celebrating the expansion of our High School Career & Technical Education facilities.

This ribbon cutting is a symbolic celebration of a project already completed and in use, made possible through strong partnerships and a continued investment in student opportunities.
